Ironwood started in a one-ton truck with a framing hammer and a phone that mostly didn't ring.
Ray Ironwood spent twelve years working for other builders before he started this company, and most of what Ironwood does differently comes directly from what drove him crazy on those jobs — estimates that meant nothing, crews that rotated every week, homeowners who found out about problems a month after the crew already knew.
So we built the opposite. We self-perform framing, finish carpentry, and concrete rather than subbing out the work that determines whether a house is square. Our lead carpenters stay on one project until it's done. And nothing gets added to your bill without your signature — not a stud, not a screw.
We turn down work we can't schedule properly. That costs us money and it's the single biggest reason our completion dates hold. Twenty-five years in, we've got two employees who've been here longer than some of our clients have owned their homes, and about a third of every year's work comes from somebody we built for before.
We're not the cheapest bid you'll get. We're the one that still looks right in ten years.
