Questions, answered

Everything you'd ask on the first call.

No sales-speak, no "it depends" for every question. If something you're wondering about isn't here, just ask me — I answer within one business day.

Money & packages

What does a website actually cost?

Most projects land between $480 and $980. Launch ($480) is a polished one-page site — perfect if you mostly need to look legitimate and be easy to contact. Grow ($980) is the full multi-page build with SEO setup, and it's what most businesses pick.

You get an exact number after our first call, in writing, before any work starts. I don't do surprise invoices.

What if I need more than 5 pages?

Grow includes five. Additional pages are $150 each, and we'll agree the exact list of pages before I start — so "extra" already means something we both signed off on, and nothing is a surprise at the end.

A page is one address on your site with its own layout and its own content — Home, About, Services, Contact, and so on. Adding a new section to an existing page isn't a page. Swapping text or photos isn't a page. Pages with working parts — online booking, a shop and cart, a calculator, a filterable directory — are quoted separately.

On the Launch package, more pages means moving up to Grow, and whatever you've already paid comes off the price.

Are there monthly fees?

Only if you want them. The build itself is a one-time cost. The Care plan ($85/mo) is optional — it covers hosting, domain management, up to 45 minutes of content changes each month, and speed/security checkups. Plenty of clients skip it and just email me when they need a change.

When do I pay?

Half up front, half at the end. The deposit is 50% of your package — $240 on Launch, $490 on Grow — and it's what books your slot in my calendar. I start work once it clears.

The other half is due when the site is finished and you've signed off on it, before it goes live on your domain. You're never paying for something you haven't seen.

For the Grow package I'm happy to split it into three payments instead — just say the word on our call. The Care plan works differently: it's billed monthly, with no deposit.

What if I don't like it?

You'll see a full visual design of your homepage before I write a single line of code, and we revise that until you're genuinely happy with it. That's the whole point of designing first — nobody gets surprised at the end.

Two rounds of revisions are included in every package. In practice, most people use one.

Timeline & process

How long until my site is live?

Roughly 2 weeks for a Launch site and 3–4 weeks for a Grow site, starting from the day I have your content. The single biggest thing that slows a project down is waiting on photos and text — if you have those ready, we move fast.

What do you need from me?

Three things: what your business does, any photos you already have, and a rough idea of what you want visitors to do on the site (call you? book? buy?). That's it. I'll write the first draft of the words for you, and you edit rather than stare at a blank page.

I don't have any photos. Is that a problem?

Not at all. I'll build the design around clean type, color, and layout instead of leaning on stock photography — that's usually the better-looking option anyway. When you do get real photos taken later, they drop straight in.

Do I have to meet a lot?

No. One 30-minute call at the start, one short walkthrough at the end, and email in between. You're running a business; I'm not going to fill your calendar.

The technical stuff

Who owns the website?

You do — the domain, the files, all of it. If we ever part ways, everything comes with you. I don't hold sites hostage, and I'll hand off the files to another developer without drama.

Is it WordPress? Wix? Squarespace?

None of those. Your site is hand-coded, which is why it loads in a fraction of a second, never breaks after a plugin update, and can't be hacked through some abandoned add-on. If you specifically need WordPress for a reason, tell me and we'll talk it through honestly.

Will it work on phones?

It's designed for phones first, because that's where most of your visitors will be. Every page is tested on real phone sizes, not just shrunk down in a browser.

Will I show up on Google?

Every site ships with proper page titles, descriptions, fast load times, and clean structure — the technical foundation search engines actually reward. The Grow package adds Google Business Profile setup, which is what really moves the needle for local businesses.

What I won't do is promise you the #1 spot. Anyone who does is guessing.

Can I update the site myself later?

For text and photo swaps, yes — I'll show you exactly how in the handoff walkthrough. For bigger changes, most clients just message me; small tweaks are usually done same-day and are included in the Care plan.

Working with me

Am I talking to you, or to an account manager?

Me. Always. I design it, I code it, I launch it, and I answer the emails. That's the entire advantage of hiring one person instead of an agency.

I already have a website. Can you fix it?

Usually the honest answer is that rebuilding is faster and cheaper than untangling someone else's work — but I'll look at what you have and tell you straight. If a refresh genuinely makes more sense, I'll say so.

Do you work with businesses outside your area?

Yes — everything happens over email and video calls, so location doesn't matter.

What happens after launch?

You get 30 days of free tweaks for anything that needs adjusting once the site is live and real people are using it. After that, you can hop on the Care plan or just email me as needed.

Still have a question?

Ask it directly. There's no sales pitch waiting on the other end — just a straight answer, usually within a day.
